Life Cycle
Biology of the 12 Spotted Pink Ladybug
The female lays 200 to
1,000 eggs over 5 month life span. After mating the female lays eggs in
protected areas with large numbers of prey, like aphids. The larva emerges
from the egg, searches for prey, and begins to feed Once the larva has
reached full size, it attaches the tail end of its body to a leaf surface and pupates.
The adult will emerge in three to 12 days depending on temperature.. At
80F the life cycle is about 14 days as a larvae, three to five days as a
pupa and five months as an adult. Adults will begin reproduction about 1
week after pupating. Making 3 releases 2 weeks apart will give you the
best result for establishing a population in your garden.
