I helped to feed these Azaleas at Maple Ave Nursery in Fresno CA in early March 2004 with Actagro Iron and Zinc with humic acids, we feed the foliage and did a soil drench. By late March the results were, after only 3 weeks they went from yellow to dark green with heavy blooms. The control plant is in the front, notice the difference from the Actagro plants behind it.

Micronutrients are “small” only in the amount which the plant needs to survive and thrive. They still are very important to the plants health – in fact many of the most striking examples of nutrient defiencies are due to the lack of micronutrients.

Actagro’s Iron and Zinc supplies a appropriate amount of the micronutrients (Iron, Zinc, Sulfur, and Manganese) which are most commonly lacking. These micronutrients are delivered in a unique chemical formulation, where patented manufacturing process combine the nutrients with organic acids. These “plant-derived” organic compounds help protect the micronutrients from break down – but more importantly allow the direct foliar feeding of precious micro nutrients thru the leaf and into the plant. Common symptoms (see image) include overall lack of vigor and growth of the plant with distinct “interveinal chlorosis” in other words the leaf turns yellow, but the veins within the leaf remain green. The response to treatment of micronutrient deficiency is often rapid and striking greening of the leaves.
