Basil - Purple Ruffles is a beautiful form of basil that grows about 1 1/2 feet high and has ruffled jagged leaves.  The scent and flavor are slightly different from sweet basil with more licorice and cinnamon flavor. 

Purple Ruffles Basil can grow in shadier areas than sweet basil but still needs about 3 hours of sun per day.  It can be difficult to find the perfect spot for this plant because it can be finicky if it gets too hot or too wet or too cool or too dry.  It has beautiful lavender pink flowers which are edible also.  This basil is annual like sweet basil so the flowers must be pinched off to keep leaf production going. This can be a challenge to grow but it rewards the hard work with the best basil flavor and amazing color.
